We parked in Arlington village, there's a large car park for users of the Yew Tree Pub.
Mostly a pretty flat and level walk with fields, and gravel paths - is one road section but not busy, although few cars did pass us going quite fast so on the lead there and keep an ear out. Lots of bloody stiles here! We got through ok, but for a couple only because they were broken so beware, in future if these get fixed then it may be less accessible still!
Beautiful reservoir to view, but nowhere for dogs to actually get wet here!
Only by the reservoir, no others seen en route.
The Yew Tree pub where the car park is, is dog friendly with dogs allowed in the garden and a designated area indoors too.
Couple of things here, firstly only do this route if you can navigate stiles. Our route was planned to be a bit shorter but got prevented by not being able to go where we wanted - this route still has stiles and we only just got over/through them all!
Secondly, whilst it does take in one side of the reservoir this isn't technically the reservoir walk. You can walk the full perimeter of the lake and park in a pay car park (BN26 6TF) with cafe etc which I'm sure is lovely. When researching however I read that lots of these paths are just narrow woodland paths so thought I'd explore a bit more of the surrounding countryside as well.
And I think that was a good choice too, it's a beautiful area and a nice varied walk. There's lots of farmland and fields, and mostly crops once we were through the first field of sheep, and some lovely views over the rolling fields.
It was a hot day so we were hoping that the final leg of the walk alongside the reservoir would be a good place to cool off, but bad research on my part as there is no access to the water here. It's beautiful and great to see the thousands of ducks, geese, and various other birds and wildfowl, and there's several benches so a really nice spot to stop and have a refresh.
The reservoir itself was quite busy with other walkers, but other than that was a perfectly peaceful route with no one around, and we'd definitely mark this one down to do again.
