Lots of parking in pay and display car park.
Mainly flat, a few gentle slopes
No water here.
Bins by start/end of walk and also in car park
Town of Broadway nearby is pretty with lovely shops, cafes etc. There are two cafes at Broadway Tower, with indoor and outdoor seating. Very dog friendly!
This walk with great views (at the highest point in the Cotswolds) is about half an hour, depending on how much sniffing is done, and how much time preventing dogs from eating all the sheep poo that’s around!
After parking in the main Pay and Display car park (on the left as you drive in), walk back up to the main gate, past the deer enclosure and the cafe, and turn left through the pedestrian gate just before the exit, heading towards the eccentric, beautiful Tower. Dogs must be on leads here as there are sometimes deer and always lots of people.
The Tower, an 18th Century folly, itself is well worth a visit (dogs aren’t allowed in – it’s narrow and busy!) and has incredible 360 degrees from the roof terrace. https://broadwaytower.co.uk/history/
Go through the gate to the right, of the tower, there is a walk to the left but this walk goes straight ahead through the gate slightly to the right, and starts going along next to the dry stone wall on the right. You’ll now be in the National Trust part, Clump Farm. There are often sheep so dogs need to be on leads until close to the end of the ‘outward bound’ bit of the walk when you’ll know if there are any around or not. Enjoying the fabulous views across Vale of Evesham to Malvern Hills, you then go through the gate to the next field, continuing in the same direction with the wall to your right.
Once you reach the delightful hillocks on your left, and the quarry on the right, it will be clear whether there are sheep around, and whether your dogs can be let off the lead. When you reach the fence in front of you, where the woods begin, turn sharp left and go back towards the Tower. (You could go for an extended walk into the woods.) I love this part of the walk, as it’s all very undulating and ‘Dingley Dell’, with trees at brilliant angles to the hill. Follow the path through the mini ‘valley’. At the Tower, it’s back through the gate, and to the car park.
Or you can do another walk in the area eg follow signs to the right, down to the Tower Barn Espresso Bar. There’s a fabulous walk down to Broadway from there. A lovely cuppa and piece of cake is a great way to finish off the walk whether long or short!
