Residential road parking along Fermandy Lane
Mostly flat walk with some small hills. No stiles, and paths mainly woodland trails which will be boggy in wet seasons.
Is a pond but check review section - the stream section is shallow but good spot to splash around in
Shortly down the first stretch of road is a poo bin
Please read before heading here, as not a straight forward route and couple of things to look out for!! One to switch your GPS on here!
From Fermandy Lane keep following the road which turns into a private driveway fro the monastery, so is used by cars but very rarely.
As you walk down the hill and round a couple of bends there's a dip where the road crosses the stream, then at the top of the hill after that there's a small woodland path on your left so take that.
This takes you through the woods, and after a small clearing there's a path on your left which leads to a nice open green field perfect for a bit of a run and a couple of benches too.
In the far corner of this field there's a small gate which leads to the small but very pretty pond. Around the surrounding areas there are lots of signs for other areas saying Private Land so it's clear where to avoid, there are no signs here but not completely sure if private so just look out for signs in case anything changes!!
We then took the path heading up adjacent to the field and here is does get a little fiddly as lots of different routes - following our GPS we headed to Furnace Pond to see the lake as were planning on extending the walk but there is bridge maintenance at time of writing so path is closed and we couldn't pass. On that note, the signs closing the path were awful, the bridge is clearly broken so pretty dangerous so do watch out - looks like they are building a new bridge so hopefully will be open again soon.
So we headed back the way we came for a bit and came out on the road again next to the monastery entrance. Walking back along the road there's shortly a path on your left heading into the woods. This basically leads you through the other side of the woods and comes out near the start of the route, but again lots of different rotes here particularly near the end where the stream section is so explore, but check GPS is your bearings are off!
Despite my unclear description it's a lovely walk, very quiet and peaceful!
