We parked in the Olde Englishe Car Park - DDDC, at Unnamed Road, Matlock DE4 3SX. 4 hours is £5.
This is a hilly walk, you need to reach the superb cliff-top views at High Tor from Matlock to Matlock Bath so it does get steep in sections. Some of the stone style stiles are quite narrow to navigate so if you have a big back pack etc you will struggle, likewise if you have a dog that sytruggles with jumping over it would be best to avoid this route.
No water here.
Dotted along the whole route.
Plenty of pubs etc available but have to shout out the wonderful Ostello Lounge part of the https://thelounges.co.uk group. Consistant food and always extremely dog friendly. Also if you want to cheat and use the Cable Cars to get up to the other side of Matlock and Matlock Bath amazingly they are dog friendly!! https://www.heightsofabraham.com/ we were going to do it but as you can see from our photos there was lots of fog on the day we visited so it would have been a total waste of time. But this walk does go straight past the entrance to the cable cars so you could incorporate it into the walk.
Amazing views from High Tor, we kept Riley on the lead because the edge was so high and there wasn't really any fences etc. This route follows 'Lovers Walk' which at various times of the year gets all lit up in the evenings, we had just missed it when we visited, but would make some lovely photos with the dog.
This walk covers part of the Peak Districts Derwent Valley Heritage Way, and the Limestone Way if you are marking off any particular routes. The views from Tinkers Shaft were lovely and by the time we had walked around there on the route some of the fog had cleared so you could see Matlock and Matlock Bath more. There were stock grazing in some of the fields in the second half of the walk but it is clearly signposted.
