Large free car park at the end of Highdown Rise which is off the A259
Quite hilly but not steep, and not as much as most other downs walks. Grassy field paths, and chalk paths mainly.
No water here.
Several general and poo bins around the car park area
Just opposite the car park is the Highdown hotel with bar, restaurant and tea room.
Firstly please accept my apologies for the awful photos here, I had a scratch on my lens and didn't realise at the time so had to get rid of most of them! It's a shame though because the views are lovely here, and even on a pretty grey day like today you could see for miles.
It's easy to get to and park, and it is busy for that as is a popular place for walkers, dog walkers, and families and there's a nice little picnic area by the car park too.
There's a wealth of different pathways here so you can have a much longer walk if you wish. For my walk I took a left at the picnic area, the main trails to begin with pretty much run parralel to each other and I stuck to the main one on the right higher up the hill which goes past a little copse of trees at the top. Through the fields, you go through a kissing gate and through another large field, and as you get to the stables at the end of that field the path left can take you back in a loop to the start. That's the theory anyway, hopefully you'll be able to do that soon but due to a hole in the path the bridleway was shut today so not sure how long that will be the case, so today I just had to head back the way I came which was still a nice walk.
Lots of wide open spaces here so great for dogs to sprint around freely off the lead.
