Large Free Car Park - not open 24hrs though so google before you go for seasonal opening times
Pretty flat walk, and lots of well maintained gravel paths for most of the way. You can venture off piste through windy woodland tracks too if you want, and some sandy areas asa well.
Right in the middle is a fantastic shallow pond in the middle of the sandy area and Hank absolutely loved it! Was quite shallow so not sure how full it will be in the middle of the summer!
Poo bin at the start of the walk and other bins around playground and cafe
Great facilities here with Cafe, toilets, and a large adventure playground for kids. Some fascinating sculptures dotted around too with the Sentinels standing tall throughout
If you check the information boards then there are set routes for you to follow if you want, but we just ambled around aimlessly seeing what we could find.
We headed left from the car park and for the first bit although nice enough through the trees, was not particularly exciting with the industrial areas and noise through the trees. Once we got through that though the centre of the park opened up into a wide sandy plain which was beautiful and Hank absolutely loved tearing around here. Carrying on through the sandy plains some sentinels sit on top of the highest point, and from there you can see the sandy pond. This was our favourite part by a mile and I could have filled this page with photos of Hank enjoying himself running and splashing here but had to restrain myself!
It's a really nice place for a walk, or a day out with its great facilities and playground too, people having picnics in the woods. It is quite busy as you'd expect on a summer's day at the end of half term but in truth not too bad, so we still had plenty of space to ourselves when walking around.
