Large pay and display car park - see photos for current rates. The path to the harbour is in the far corner of the car park. (did see some Google reviews that there were only coin pay machines, but there is one you can pay by card so must be new)
Very flat walk, Mostly muddy and gravel paths along the shoreline. No stiles, couple of kissing gates.
No access to the sea (when I went at low tide, not sure about high tide). Couple of stream sections that you cross but pretty marshy so kept out.
Poo bin in the corner of the car park by the start of the walk.
For a longer walk, the path runs all the way to West Wittering and The Spit.
This was a gorgeous walk, but really not the one I was expecting. I was looking for a beach without the crowds of Wittering, and whilst at first I thought the large sandy plains would lead us to the sea for a bit of a splash, it soon became clear that what I thought were sandy plains were in fact very thick and boggy mudflats so after some mucky paws and nearly losing a welly we didn't make it anywhere near the water! Rookie error.
It's a beautiful and unique area with wide views of the sea and the harbour, walking amongst the low overhanging branches of the shoreline trees on one side, with the wild grass marshes on the other. The route is a simple there and back, going as far as you want to. There is a path that runs along the shoreline, and for sections you can walk on the pebbles running parallel to this. Despite it being a glorious sunny day when we visited, we only passed about 5 or 6 other walkers in an hours walk so was very peaceful.
Hank was off lead pretty much the whole time, but just beware of the mud flats as you really don't want your dog running onto them! I've only visited at pretty much low tide so can't comment on how it is as high tide.
