Parking

Several laybys either side of the road right at the start.

Terrain

The first 10 minutes or so is nice and flat, but don't be fooled as after that it's quite a hilly walk. Lots of ups and downs and nothing too huge, but are a couple of steep parts. Mix of grassy woodland paths, with some bits pretty boggy and some uneven rooty sections.

Water

There are a couple of ponds whihch are pretty, but ot big enough to swim. Maybe have a bit of a paddle, but going to be stinky I reckon so didn't encourage Hank to go paddling today!

Poo Bins

None here

Author Review

This was one of those places I knew nothing about, but luckily just drove past the lay-by where several cars were parked one day so made a note to head back there and we went to explore.

It's a lovely place, and even on a miserable stormy day when we were there it was pretty scenery through the forests and healthlands.

For the route we started off following 'The Serpent Trail' whihc is well marked out with purple arrows. This took us through some woodlands and down the hill to a pretty little wild oasis as the path goes between two marshy ponds.

The route takes you up a hill on the other side, but at the top (I have marked on the route map with a yellow dot) the Serpent trail takes you further away, and I wanted to make a loop so from there I ignored the purple arrows and made my own way back. There are lots of paths to make your own routes but quite rarely for me I made some good choices and made a nice loop so would recommend following my route on the GPS if you want head back from here.

I saw a couple of walkers, and are signs of horses and cyclists but none around and really nice and peaceful when we went.
