Small car park off Monkmead Lane. Low height restriction of 6ft.
Typical muddy woodland paths. It's not hilly or difficult but will be boggy and bumpy in wetter weather. Some sections are quite narrow too with overgrown greenery either side but much of the paths are very open.
There is a stream running through the woods. It's shallow and calm so great for dogs to take a dip, but access to it can be down some steep banks from the main pathways at points.
Several bins by the car park entrance. Also is a bin further into the woods by the golf course entrance.
Quite out of the way here so not much on the doorstep. It is a site of special scientific interest so houses lots of wildlife for nature lovers.
This isn't a large area, but often there's not time to go off exploring huge reserves or trekking up big hills and you just want somewhere easy and local to let your dog stretch their legs, away from busy areas and this really is perfect for that. It's a nice quiet area, with dense woodland and Hank found his way down to the stream for a good splash around.
We took a smaller path to the left as you enter the main route from the car park, and the trails lead you round the woodlands - we did hit a couple of dead ends and ended up retracing our steps for a bit but there's quite a few tracks and it's not long until you can find a new route that will eventually lead you back around. Along this route, for the first few hundred yards the road is not too far away to your left - it's not a particularly busy road and there's plenty of trees and shrubbery before it and I was comfortable with Hank off the lead here, but if your dog tends to run off it's just worth being aware of.
If you do want a longer walk then the public footpaths do take you through the West Sussex Gold Club, but dogs must be on leads through there of course.
(If you're following my route map, I forgot to start it right away sorry! The red dot is actually the car park and I went from there to where the green dot is located)
