There is a lay-by just past the gated entrance to the field on the West side of the bridge, it's right by the road, overgrown and bumpy! See my pictures, there's a path linking to the walk where the front of my car is.
Flat walk, although muddy paths will be wet in winter. Some woodland paths, and narrow section through overgrown verges. Stile with big step to enter, and larger dogs will struggle to get under the gate.
The canal has water for most of the way, and further on there's more waterways including lakes and streams.

See Loxwood Wey and Arun Canal for another section along this route.
This is another of those locations that really benefits from not being that easy to get to, if you can put up with the not-so-great parking spot and difficult stile to enter the walk then it's a lovely spot that's pretty much deserted. It's less pristine than the Loxwood part of the canal, but the calm river, grassy meadows and interesting stops along the way make for a great walk.
If you want a walk under an hour, it's pretty much a there and back route just stopping when you've gone far enough. If you look at my route map you can see I tried to venture away from the river in an attempt to loop back, but as I kept going further away from myself I figured if there was a loop it's a long way so headed back! I got up to the very pretty Loves bridge which crosses a picturesque little lake. There are plenty of signposted paths to go beyond this so lots of other routes are possible. Just before the gate to Loves bridge on the right there's a lovely shady spot next to the water's edge perfect for a half time rest and drink, and gentle slope to the water if your dog wants to cool off too.
Being so quiet, and with open fields Hank was off the lead the whole way once we were past the gate, but there are cows grazing in the field so watch out for them, we were just lucky they were on the other side of the fields today.
