*See further details in About My Walk section - parking is available in the Blue Idol spaces on Oldhouse Lane at certain times.
Mainly very flat and no big hills here, pathways are little narrow and uneven for parts. Are unavoidable stiles here, one which I had to lift Hank over and several that he only just got under so not great for big or heavy dogs.
No water here.
No bins here.
The charming 16th century Blue Idol Quaker meeting house has a garden that is open in daylight hours (although preferably without dogs), and on Fridays the house is open to visitors as well.
This is a pretty walk through farmlands and fields and it's mainly very flat so although quite long it's an easy walk. My walk was 5.4km, but if you look at my route map there is also a path that splits right down the middle so you could create two smaller walks if you want something quicker.
As you walk down Oldhouse Lane from the parking spaces, you come to a farm and a signed path which forks off to the left through the hedge, or right past the farm/horses and this is the beginning and end of the loop so you can go either way. We went left, which takes you on a guided path past fields and head right at the end through the first farm. The road then takes you to Sprouts farm where you cut through and past some cattle fields. At the end of this field you can go right to head back to the start, or go left for a longer walk through more grazing fields.
Whilst it is a beautiful and very quiet area, I would say that this is more of a nice walk that you take you dog with you as well, rather than a great dog walk. It's not particularly dog friendly with stiles, roads (very quiet private roads), farms, horses and cattle etc. but if you want to go somewhere peaceful and are happy with your dog on the lead for the vast majority then it's a nice change of scenery.
*Parking. I actually contacted Blue Idol to see if it was ok to recommend using their spaces and they were very kind in their reply: It is usually fine to use these spaces, but take care not to use residents spaces. Please avoid Sundays between 10am and 1pm, and every now and again on Saturdays they have events that will require all of their spaces, so check their calendar here http://blueidol.org/calendar
