No formal parking, at least I could not find any designated parking area for the visitors. But it was easy just to park on one of the residential streets off the Orpington Road.
Flat terrain
Some small streams only, but enough to get them wet and muddy.
No bins here
Petts Wood’s has 150 acres of ancient, semi natural woodland. Hawkwood on the other hand is mainly grazed pasture, with small blocks of woodland. Cows and sheep graze the open fields, and you will experience wide vistas opening to the south. In Hawkwood you will find a memorial to William Willett who invented the British summertime.
A beautiful wood .... National Trust. Lovely for all ages, dogs on or off lead. As usual, I always follow Maple, and she leads the walks. The woods have lots of different routes, and you can easily to get lost in there, in a good way, as there is a lot to explore.
As it was our first time visiting the park, I found myself constantly checking my phone, to make sure we were not walking in circles. Apart from that, the walk was super enjoyable. It's definitely a great place to explore whether you’re alone with your thoughts, walking your dog, enjoying a family outing or discovering wildlife.
