Free parking at Southbourne Sea Scouts (see photo). In busy periods you can also park slightly further up Prinsted Lane in the ‘square’. What3Words for this location: compacts.barn.uproot
A flat walk starting along the coastal path, over farm tracks, a super short stint on a quiet residential lane before going back through fields and along the coastal path to the carpark. The paths through the fields can be quite muddy (and sticky!) when it’s been wet.
For a good chunk of the walk you are on a coastal path and if the tide is right can also walk on the shingle beach. I recommend checking tide times if you have a swimming lover and walk at high tide… otherwise there is lots of sea mud that Rufus loves to charge through! 🙈
There are 4 poo bins at the start/ end of the walk at the carpark as well as approx half way round in Nutbourne (see photo).
There is a small coffee van (The Diddy Van) at the Sea Scouts on Mondays and Fridays between 9:00 and 13:00.
This is an AONB and conservation area. There are often ‘rangers’ around who really appreciate it if you don’t allow your dogs to chase the birds and keep your dogs close when passing by. Along first part of coastal path you’ll walk along there are some horse fields to your left and there is a gap in the fence for dogs to squeeze through. If you have a fellow horse poo lover, I’d pop them on the lead to pass here. Other than that, there are lots of opportunities for good runs and swims off lead.
If you’d like to make this a longer walk, you could continue a figure of 8 loop back past the carpark and do the ‘Prinsted Bridge Loop’ we’ve also shared. This will make your walk approx 90 mins.
