Large free car park
Fairly flat sandy pathways for most of the way with some windier woodland paths. If you head left like I did it's a gentle slope down for most of the walk with a steeper hill and the end of the walk to get back to the car park.
No accessible water here, but there is a very pretty pond at the far end of the walk.
Several poo bins located in the woodlands just by the car park
Dog's are allowed on the woodland trail, but are not allowed on the Wetlands trail. Dogs are also welcome on the tea terrace next to the Cafe. RSPB visitor centre has public toilets but check their website for opening hours.
As you head towards the visitor centre and go straight into the woods to the left of it there's a bench with beautiful views over this nature reserve. This is a good place to start and get your bearings as this is the area the woodland trail takes you right around. We headed left here and there's a pretty little woodland to start with, with several different paths to follow and explore, the area is very popular with visitors and children on bikes with a den building area and several seating areas.
Through this woodland the pathways lead you all the way round the reserve and whilst it is a brief walk and not with open spaces for off-lead opportunities it's so easy to get to and to park so it's a great place to combine with a day out and a picnic. We went on a fairly hot day and we didn't want to walk too far to wear Hank out too much and it's nicely shaded by the trees for much of the walk too.
I went in June, past Covid 19 lockdown but opening hours are still restricted so if you want to visit the Wetlands trail or visitor centre check their website for details.
