I walked from the campsite we were staying at but you’ll see from the images lots of people just pulled up and parked on a quiet road near the start.
Really accessible walk, flat terrain. Ridgeway is narrow so have to be accommodating for other users. I suspect in the winter will be muddier under foot also!
Lots of spots along the Thames Path for dogs (and at some points humans too!) to enjoy a dip.
No bins here
Wallingford is a quaint little town so lots of opportunity to grab a pint or spot of lunch. Also plenty of benches to rest up and enjoy the Thames river.
Really enjoyed the peace of this walk. The Ridgeway is popular with ramblers but didn’t feel busy or crowded. If your dog has good recall and not reactive then plenty of opportunity to off-lead. The second section of the Ridgeway does run alongside a main road so would need to remain on lead for safety. There is a main road to cross and use the bridge to cross the river Thames. The Thames Path takes you through Wallingford and some lovely little alley ways…can always off route and explore here! The dips were good fun and good opportunities for dogs who love swimming or those, like Lily, who just want to dip a paw in and grab a refreshing drink!
