Free car park for a dozen or so cars, 1.9m height barrier.
Nice flat easy walk, no stiles. Mix of gravel paths, boardwalk elevated walks and muddy/grass routes
Canal is pretty to walk past but not suitable for swimming. The lake has a couple of great shallow entrances for dogs to go in for a dip.
Poo bin in the car park
We found this place by accident as we were in the area, and whilst it's close to the A3 and the start has huge pylons obscuring the view, after a while you don't notice this and it's a really great spot for a dog walk with lots to see and some wonderfully reserved natural areas. We started by veering off the main path to the right to walk along the canal until we got to the lock. We then headed left into the Fens along the boardwalk and explored that for a bit before we got to the lake and walked around that, rejoining the path back to the car.
The canal path was busy with walkers, cyclists and joggers, but still a nice calm pretty river walk. Through the fens and around the lake it was much quieter - plenty of off-lead opportunities for well behaved dogs only, were signs for grazing animals but didn't see any.
