Free Parking is available at the bottom of the pathway, car park is suitable for a dozen or so cars, there is no camping overnight.
This pathway spirals up the hill through woodland until you reach Rodney’s Pillar. There are no stiles and the terrain is a gentle hill walk with well laid out path ways. Lots of small log piles for your dog to pose on , and simply beautiful views towards the River Severn and Offa’s Dyke Path from the top at the Pillar.
No water here
None on the route but there is one in the car park at the start/end.
Rodney’s Pillar is currently fenced off due to its current state of disrepair. The fencing is expected to remain in place for an extended amount of time until repair work is completed but don’t let that stop you , it’s a lovely walk despite the fencing.
If your dog has good recall there are plenty of places in the woodland to let them off but as you get further up the pathway closer to the Pillar there is livestock but it is all very well signposted where the livestock are.
The Admiral Rodney Pub, 1847 Criggion Ln, Criggion, Shrewsbury SY5 9AU just 3 miles along the road allows you to park up in their car park over night if you buy a couple of drinks, super dog friendly with a cute beer garden.
