Decent sized forestry commission car park off Hammerpond Road.
Plenty of gravel paths which are level and easy walking, whilst not steep it is an incline for a good distance into the woods. Lots of woodland path routes too which are steep, muddy, bumpy and with lots of obstacles.
If you stick to the paths there's no water, but head into the woods on the left hand side of the path as you go in and there's several sections of streams.
Poo bin right at the start of the main pathway just off the car park.
Lots of angling lakes nearby, and also Horsham Motocross track.
Some of the woodlands and huge old trees here are stunning. It's a popular spot with families and cyclists too and the car park can at times be busy (by woodland car park standards!), but it's a huge space with many different routes and paths so doesn't ever feel crowded. The well maintained pathways lead you to the heart of the woodland and you can still have a decent walk just sticking to these, but if like me you like to go off-piste a little then there's lots of little side paths to explore and venture down.
The main path comes straight off the car park, but for my walk today I started on a smaller path that comes off the opposite corner of the car park to this and almost looks hidden. This path leads you to the stream, I followed this back up the hill until the pathways stopped and then crossed over the stream, clambered up a small hill and re-joined the more established routes towards the main paths. If your dog likes a splash in the water it's a good route to take, but be warned it's quite tough terrain with lots of hopping over the meandering stream and whilst it wasn't very deep today I'm sure it could be a lot trickier in wetter seasons!
