There is on street parking in Ratley but it is very limited so please be mindful of the local residents.
This is another walk where it really has a bit of everything, stiles, gates, hills, and woodlands with well signposted pathways. This route crosses over the Centenary Way and Macmillan Way and goes up and over Edge Hill, the site of the first battle of the English Civil War.
Yes in Ratley and Edgehill villages.
This walk starts and ends at the quaint english village pub of the Rose and Crown in Ratley (www.roseandcrownratley.co.uk), the sharing meat platter is one of our recommendations for post walk grub and they are super dog friendly and welcoming. You can also make another pub stop at The Castle in Edgehill (www.castleatedgehill.co.uk), conveniently about half way around this circular route and has a spectacular garden for a summer drink stop off. For those who like a weekend away walking with a campsite there is Mount Farm Park Campsite (www.mountfarmpark.co.uk) in Ratley on this route where dogs can camp for free, obviously the humans need to pay! We haven't stayed here yet but are planning on testing it out this summer as we have another walk we want to do in this area so it would make a great walking weekend away with accomodation ;)
The first half of this walk is open fields and countryside with lots of off lead opportunities (there are some cattle grazing but you can see them well in advance because of the landscape). The views at the top of Edgehill are stunning on a clear day, well worth the walk up there.
The second half of the walk is mainly through woodland areas, and if you can trust your dog not to dissapear on a spaniel adventure then there would be a lot of off lead opportunites through the woods.
