Parking for around 6 cars by entrance to footpath. (W3W = trouble.socialite.united)
Flat if you stick to the main path, but if you ramble or follow the smaller paths inclines vary. Can get very boggy when wet.
Several streams flow through the woodland. A few ponds, but most of them are fishing ponds - so not dog friendly
No bins here
Evidence of a large population of deer, we only saw 1 Fallow deer on our adventure though. Some large rock formations hidden in the trees alongside the main pathway
A very nice woodland with plenty of routes to follow if you look close enough. One large central path winding through the centre of the forest with various little paths leading off.
It’s quiet, with only the occasional plane to break the peacefulness. The woodland is popular with horse riders although we haven't seen any, some of the paths have been heavily churned by their hoofs. This makes some of the paths extremely boggy when wet or not very pleasant to walk when dry. This is a great place to ramble. We got off the main path as soon as possible and ended up following deer trails for the large majority of the walk. We saw evidence of a lot of deer but only ended up seeing 1 Fallow deer towards the end of the walk, but tracks for them are everywhere.
There are some nice streams to follow, some are rather overgrown, but others have a path forming to follow down. The water is shallow with the odd deep pockets but not really enough for dogs to swim in. It’s a large woodland if you go off the beaten track you could have a good 3+ hour walk. If you plan to stick to the main path the walk is a little more limited but still a pleasant walk; but with no easy way to loop the walk, you’ll end up walking back on yourself to get back to the car.
