Tarn Hows is a man-made, stunning beauty spot. In Victorian times, a beck was dammed, creating the Tarns you see today. The How’s are the surrounding small, wooded hills. At the beginning there is a steep pathway down to the Tarn, alternatively you could take the lane which is beside the Tarn which is also accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs There is a well-maintained pathway once you have reached the Tarn, very easy to follow around with some small inclines and ideal for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
As you walk around the Tarn, there are plenty of areas where the dogs can swim or paddle in the Tarn.

This is a National Trust area. There are various pathways around the path where you could divert your walk and explore the surrounding hillside. There is a mixed woodland to one side of the Tarn where there maybe sheep and a grazed area between two gates where there may be cattle grazing. There are areas where you could let your dog run free and enjoy running through the ferns and the mixed woodlands.
I recommend everyone to visit, just to see the beautiful views surrounding the Tarn How’s
