Good sized national trust car park. From Washington roundabout Georges Lane is the first turning on your right, is a very pot-holed road, and the car park is at the end.
Some slopes which get a little bit steeper the further you venture, but overall fairly flat on earthy and sandy woodland paths which can be muddy in wetter seasons.
No water here.
Head into the open common area directly opposite the car park entrance and there's a poo bin on the path there.
Other local walks include Sullington Warren and Sandgate Park (coming soon). Also, Gatleys country store is a great pet supplies store just down the road.
Particularly at weekends the car park can be a little busy, there's no cyclists allowed here but it's a nice place for families and walkers to visit - straight out of the car park you'll see the open common area with it's picnic tables, and there's den building and rope swings around the woods too so a good place to come with the children.
For our walk we went up to the common and left, and then followed the woodland trail around. The ground level is nice and open beneath the canopy so when there wasn't other people around Hank enjoyed running around off the lead. Following the path takes you through pretty woodlands and some open areas of grasslands too, and at the far end of the walk as you can hear that you're getting closer to the road you come to a T junction - taking a right takes you back to the car park through another woodland trail. We took the left, and soon you come to a steep drop to your right, which leads down to a fantastic open bowl with high banks around three sides. Hank loved this area, it's quite sandy and he enjoyed sprinting around and up the steep faces.
Do beware here though - you are quite close to the road which is a busy dual carriageway. We tried to follow the path to see if we could create a loop round, and after clambering up the hill at the farthest point and through some undergrowth it's clear there is not, so don't bother trying it's best just to head back once you've had enough and then go straight on an the junction where you previously went left on your way up.
