As with most National Trust locations the car park is chargeable, with the funds going to the up keep of the locations etc. This car park was £2 to park but the machine was broken.
The walk to the Monument from the car park is flat but if you take the route through the woods as our route is mapped there are a few hills through the woodland.
No water here
Bins at the car park entrance.
The view point from the monument is meant to be spectacular, but unfortunately but not surprisingly we chose a cloudy day to visit so couldn't see much.
A lovely walk, and seems very popular with the locals, lots of dogs running around off lead. It's not every day you can get your dog to sit on a cannon, so well worth the trip for that alone. The Wellington Monument intself is quite an impressive structure and you can climb up the middle of it as well to see views from the top.
The Woodland trail below the monument is beautiful and I can imagine when the bluebells etc are out in the spring its simply stunning, overall a lovely way to spend an hour and some good photo opportunities.
