If you're coming from the A24 (Buck Barn) direction the entrance to the turning is immediately after Little Barn Owls Day Nursery (Previously The Orchard restaurant). It is signed as being locked at dusk so be sure to plan time to get back before then!
Keep to the Down's Link path and it's very flat with good surfaced pathways and no stiles. If you want to explore surrounding woodlands or fields then terrain is a lot rougher, and pretty much every route for a good distance has stiles without good access for dogs of any size.
Several small streams, but only if you venture away from the main downs link pathway.
No bins here
The Down's Link path that the walk joins here stretches all the way to Guildford to the North, and Shoreham to the South and you can go either direction from here. There is an old train carriage which you can visit but at time of writing it's still closed due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Immediately out of the car park you walk onto the old tracks of the disused railway station, and there's a nicely kept picnic area with benches and an old train carriage.
From here you can go in either direction along the downs link pathway, and we went north. It's a long straight route, and can be popular with joggers, cyclists, and horses but generally you can see them coming from a long way off so Hank was off the lead for most of the way, only going back on when there was lots of people around.
It's a nice flat walk and you can just do a there and back route coming back where you came from. I'm not quite sure why I feel the need to try and create a loop when I go for walks but it's a kind if subconscious obsession so I went off the pathway to explore a little more. There are a few sign-posted junctions along the way with routes off in either direction. We took a left turn approximately 1.5km in and (after heaving Hank over the stile!) went through some very pretty grazing fields, and then through some further fields with crops and it's a lovely quiet walk through the countryside.
Beware though there are lots of sheep/horses/cows grazing and also the pathways are not always easy to follow so recommend taking a GPS app as always to make sure you're not going too far off track! If you do want to go off track there are lots of stiles as well.
