There's a lay-by just before the Warninglid sign (see gallery for photo). It's very bumpy with some very large dips in places too and only room for a couple of cars. Once parked walk back down the hill beside the road for 30m or so and cross over and you'll see the sign posted entrance to the walk.
Very hilly. Actual paths are pretty decent but lots of ups and downs.
There's a small stream that runs the length of the valley, I visited in June and it had water but very shallow. There's also a very pretty lake a short walk on.
No poo bins here
Look out for the carved wooden statue collection including aliens, owls, mushrooms and giant heads! (highlighted on route map).
It's the first time I visited here today, and as I started the walk the first 5 minutes or so is just walking on a path adjacent to the road and I thought well this is going to be rubbish! Soon after though the path veers off to the left and down into the woodlands and this really is a hidden gem of a walk. There's thick forest, a winding stream with meandering ravines, cute little stone bridges and a large lake, all with very pretty shrubbery and wildlife. I saw a deer run past and luckily he ran off before Hank clocked him or I'd have had a bit of a run on my hands! I also stumbled across what must be a skilled craftpersons open workshop which was seemingly randomly in the middle of nowhere, but a surprising point of interest and great to admire their work.
Being not so easy to get to means it's quiet and it's very much worth the trip, and whilst I imagine it can be a popular place for horses and mountain bikers I didn't see anyone on my walk at all so great off-lead opportunities for Hank. Towards the far end of my walk I did venture off the path a bit hoping to trust my sense of direction to loop me back, but you really are up and down, and round different curves and I did get a bit lost, but luckily wasn't long until I found another path and came back on myself pretty much parralel to the way I came in. I don't think I got anywhere near exploring the whole area in a walk the best part of an hour, so I'm sure you could find a longer route if that's not enough for you.
Well worth a trip!
